Attendees enjoyed face painting, displays from prominent community groups and a delicious Big Aussie Breakfast and barbecue lunch.
The flag-raising ceremony, led by Warrant Officer Class One Tony Lynch and members of the Seymour RSL Club, was followed by an awards presentation, with Lynda Robinson receiving the Mitchell Shire Arts Person of the Year Award and Christine Bortolotto receiving the Peter Toomey Police Officer of the Year Award.
Rotary Club Member Cathy Gourbault-Lawrence addressed the crowd with a heartfelt speech on her journey to Australian citizenship.
“French Polynesia is, and always will remain, in my heart, but my new stage of life is Nagambie,” Ms Gourbault-Lawrence said.
“Citizenship is embracing the values, is sharing respect and, in fact, all of the different nationalities are a great diversity, and that is a great wealth for any country.”
