The Rochester Christmas Market on Friday, December 8, was a fantastic success, with 500 people enjoying the event.

It was a warm, humid night, with people happily strolling around the market, catching up with family and friends.
The food stalls were flat out, with some customers waiting about 30 minutes for fresh and delicious meals.
Rochester Business Network treasurer Milly Cain spoke to the Campaspe News in between customers with her stall selling a range of sweet treats.
“The Rochester Christmas Market is a great success,’’ Ms Cain said.
“It’s wonderful to see so many smiling faces and great for the community to come together.
“That’s what Rochester is all about.”
Lots on offer: Rochester Rotary Club president Bryan Griffiths and secretary Angela Beutel with the wonderful prizes for the lucky winners. The prizes will be drawn on December 22 at 6pm at Rochester Hotel.

There were 50 stalls, along with Rochester Lions running a barbecue and Rochester Rotary Club members selling tickets for the Christmas raffle.

Rotary secretary and youth director Angela Beutel, originally from Queensland, has been in Rochester for two years.
Exploring: Finney, 2, and Archer, 3, attended the market with their parents Tim and Natalie Walsh from Elmore, while their little sister Nora slept peacefully in her pram.

“The turnout has been great tonight, especially with all the smiling faces. The market has been worthwhile,” Ms Beutel said.
“The prizes (for the raffle) are drawn on December 22 at 6pm at the Rochester Hotel.”
Lexi Wright was there with her mum Belinda Wright and cousins Georgia and Zoe Tratford, who were all impressed with the stalls, kids’ entertainment and food.

“We love the Christmas market; there is plenty for the kids,” Lexi said.
As the market slowly approached its end, Santa Claus called into town on the back of a fire truck.
Festive cheer: The CFA gave Santa Claus a hand, with his reindeer unable to make the trip from the North Pole.

The truck drove slowly down Mackay St, with the man in red on the back, waving to the children and adults who were happy to see cheerful Santa.
The truck navigated the roundabout, pulling up at the shire hall.

About 200 children swamped Santa as he happily sat on his chair, handing out lollies to the eager children.
