That team consisted of Keeley Major, Taylor Murray, Jasmine Watson, Asher Lehmann and Jaxon Wolfe, who combined strongly all season to continually improve on their game and had a convincing win over Lockington in the championship match.
Rochester junior tennis is in a strong place with the C-grade team bringing home the premiership. The club also fielded two association junior aggregate winners, with Tobie Woodfine winning the CTA boys’ A-grade aggregate and Jasmine Watson taking out the CTA girls’ C-grade aggregate.
Section two men’s aggregate winner: Howard Armstrong; section two women’s aggregate winner: Mandy Dingwall; section one men’s aggregate winner: Todd Woodfine; section one women’s aggregate winner: Karen Taylor.
The floods obviously impacted the club dramatically, but despite this, the club has had a very successful season. Both senior teams made the semi-finals, only to be defeated in their respective matches, and two junior teams only just missed the finals.
The lawn courts are in possibly the best condition for many years, as a result of some hard work over the past few years. The courts coped amazingly well with the floodwater. The lawn courts will remain open until Easter.
The hard court surface has been replaced and looks fantastic and the new surface plays very well.
The success of the juniors this season, coupled with the high quality courts, bodes well for a very successful coming season.
