Southern states Red Angus breeders are preparing for a major, exclusive sale to be held at Barnawatha on February 25.
Redgums stud principal Cliff Downey said the southern state breeders have been wanting to run a feature sale for many years.
“Our breed has done a great job coming to prominence winning many interbreed awards at royal shows over the years,” Mr Downey said.
“We selected NVLX Barnawatha for central location to Victoria and southern NSW and opportunity to run in conjunction with a big store sale with major industry exposure and a link with Stocklive.”
Mr Downey said the time was right for a feature sale, with confidence in the cattle industry high and the national herd rebuild under way, and with breeders looking for good heifer bulls.
He said Red Angus were renowned for calving ease traits and the Angus carcase traits of marbling for eating quality.
Redgums stud at Echuca is participating in Beef Week as a promotion for the sale and the stud, with an open day on January 27.
