Deniliquin Rodeo Committee president Greg Rourke said the sheer number of people in the district over Easter helped deliver a record-breaking crowd for Easter Saturday’s Rodeo Under the Stars.
‘‘We estimate we had more than 3000 people through the gates, which is definitely a record for us,’’ Mr Rourke said.
‘‘Our gate doubled from our last event, too.
‘‘A lot of people pre-purchased their tickets, and everyone was great with adhering to the COVID-safe QR code sign-in requirement.
‘‘It was a great team effort by the committee to put on the event.
‘‘Events like ours are a real asset to the community, and everyone walked out saying how great the night was.
‘‘Our courtesy buses were full and there was plenty of action, as well as plenty of other entertainment in the town.’’
Mr Rourke said the record crowd enjoyed an amazing show of thrills and spills, witnessing the efforts of more than 20 bullriders, more than 20 bronc riders, up to 50 barrel racers and plenty more ‘‘ropers’’.
