The council adopted the revised Rate Relief and Outstanding Debt policies at its recent meeting in March.
Chief executive officer Geoff Rollinson said the council understands many residents are facing financial difficulties due to cost-of-living pressures.
“The revision of these policies ensures council continues to support residents and ratepayers who may need additional time to repay outstanding debt,” he said.
Under the Rate Relief policy, the council can waive rates and charges for ratepayers experiencing general or financial difficulty.

The COVID-19 Hardship policy has been rescinded as it is no longer required, although many of its measures have been absorbed into the rate relief policy.
