Windy Ways Galaxies Dawn 7 has previously won the Supreme Intermediate Champion (all-breeds) and Supreme Senior Champion (all-breeds) the last two times she graced the Sydney Royal show ring.
“She’s won everything we could possibly put in front of her,” part-owner Frank Walsh said of the six-year-old Jersey.
“She’s a cow that’s hard to fault ... since 2018 she’s never been beaten.”
And Dawn 7 is continuing to hit her stride after being classified a 95-point cow in late January, elevating her into an exclusive club which includes only two other Jerseys.
Mr Walsh bred Dawn 7 while he was running the Windy Ways Jersey Stud at Tongala.
“I sold the farm to my son and grandson last August, so they run that (Windy Ways Jersey Stud) now,” Mr Walsh said.
“She’s out of a family that goes back 108 years and it’s a good breeding family you can rely on.
“She’s not only a good show cow, she’s a good production cow.”
Despite being raised at Tongala, Dawn 7 now calls the Gavenlocks’ Tallygaroopna property home.
Jess and Brad Gavenlock share ownership of Dawn 7 with Mr Walsh.
“This is her third time in Sydney, so she knows what she’s doing,” Mrs Gavenlock said.
The dairy cattle classes will be judged from April 15 to 19 at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, with the awarding of the supreme junior, intermediate and senior cows on April 19.
