Project Compassion: For All Future Generations

St Augustine’s College returned to its pre-COVID tradition of a pancake breakfast for the whole college community on Shrove Tuesday morning.

Student leaders from year 4, 8 and 12 thrived as they worked alongside staff from 7.30am to prepare the pancakes on the beautiful grassed area at the entrance to the College.

Parents, caregivers, grandparents and parishioners came along and enjoyed the pancakes at the public event. There were plenty of pre-schoolers too, lining up with their gold coin for Caritas. A selection of social-justice themed books were made available and it was delightful to see reading taking place between the generations, fostering a sense of welcome and love of learning.

Monies raised from the event will be directed toward the College’s Project Compassion campaign. Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten appeal that takes place in the lead up to Easter. Caritas is an international Catholic organisation that seeks to support vulnerable people around the world through its ongoing education and sustainable programs. As a part of the Teacher Advisor Program all students will be exposed to the stories of four individuals who have been directly supported by Caritas over the next four weeks.
