“We are all about the community, awareness within our community is most important, we are proud to be part of Tradies Support the Ladies, which is actually about the mental health and awareness of everybody, whether you are male or female,” Worklocker owner Jaime Lake said.
“The tradies/businesses that have joined the Pink Army in the Tradies Support the Ladies program are excited when they get the uniform for Fridays, they know they are adding to the purpose and are proud.
“When they pop their pink on to go to work on a Friday, they know they are doing it for a very worthy cause and gives everyone a boost for the day, knowing that it means something.
“We have been able to donate over $10,000 so far, which has been direct to Echuca Regional Health – Cancer and Wellness Centre as well as the new Mental Health and Wellbeing programs for everyone.”
Tradies Support the Ladies is a charity that raises awareness of breast cancer, originally started up in Tamworth NSW by two men who had lost their wives to breast cancer, by wearing pink shirts on a Friday, it reminds men to be aware of the symptoms of breast cancer.
Worklocker Echuca donates 10 per cent of all TSTL sales to the cause.
Recently, Worklocker Echuca supported ‘Wear Pink Socks’ Day in conjunction with the Moama Football Netball Club.
“We donated the socks to Moama FNC, and then the club held a fundraiser to donate funds to both Ash Good’s daughter, Harriet and the Mental Health and Wellbeing Program at ERH, each receiving $975 each, incredible support from everyone involved,” Jaime said.
“Anyone can have mental health issues, and we all need to get on board together and talk openly about it to make it more easy to reach out when things do seem overwhelming.”
Apart from the ongoing Tradies Support the Ladies - Wear Pink on Fridays, Worklocker Echuca is collaborating with the Campaspe Shire Council in September to host a morning session on suicide prevention with Hope Assistance Local Tradies.
“We are here to support the community and offer our help as best we can,” Jaime said.
“Our beautiful town needs our local shops to survive and being part of the community and sharing among each other is what makes each and every business owner stronger and strive for better outcomes each day.
“We are big supporters of the community when it comes to support and involvement.
“This, in turn, helps us grow and maintain our business, and we can continually give back.
“I am really passionate about our Tradies Support the Ladies Army and how the town has taken it on board whole heartedly.
“It is now growing organically by itself because everyone wants to make a difference, I can't wait to see more and more pink on Fridays.”
