Town history: A Campaspe shire consultation process has started with Rochester community to discuss the future of the Rochester District War Memorial Pool.
Rochester residents who want to have a say on the future of a swimming facility in their town are being invited to contribute ideas about the future of the Rochester pool through a Campaspe shire survey.

Information is being collected in a variety of ways, and council staff will be at the Rochester Recreation Reserve on Saturday and the same survey is available via this link — https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Rochesterusersurvey
Out of action: Rochester’s 50 metre pool looks certain to be replaced with a smaller water park-style facility that has become the most economical design for Victorian regional councils.
Written public submissions are also being accepted, email shire@campaspe.vic.gov.au and there are two drop-in sessions for the community next week.
The first drop-in session is on Wednesday, September 6, from 4pm to 6pm, outside Majors IGA. The second session is on Thursday, September 7, from 10am to noon at Rotunda Park, near the Rochester Bakery.
If you do not have access to the internet, you can call or visit council’s customer service team in Rochester who will be able to assist you to complete the online survey or provide a hard copy.
Community asset: Rochester historic pool was operated by volunteers for many years, but has been under threat of closure since 2016. Its death knell was almost certainly last October’s flood event.
