With the longer-term forecasts optimistic, it’s time to consider if your hay machinery is delivering the optimal return on investment.
Technology and options for hay equipment have advanced at an incredible pace.
In an announcement earlier this year, agricultural implement specialist Kverneland awarded PFG Australia the company’s highest accolade — Kverneland Group’s Importer of the Year for 2021.
More farmers and contractors than ever are flocking to Kverneland’s grass products, from mowers to tedders, rakes to mower conditioners.
One of the reasons why is the expansion of the range to appeal to larger operations, as well as family farms.
Take Kverneland’s range of mowers. Depending on the needs and scale of your operation, there’s the rear-mounted 2324 mower with a working width of 2.4m for smaller mowing operations, through to the 9.5m butterfly mowers with centre suspension, huge working width and non-stop break back.
Next in line are Kverneland’s rakes. Again, there’s a choice for a varying scale of operations.
For smaller areas and a lower horsepower tractor, the single rotor 3.5m gives the option of pivoting, fixed three-point linkage mounting and a trailed version.
For larger farming, the twin rotor range out to the quad rotor means these rakes can place two large swaths into one, allowing a total of up to 12.5m crop to be gathered into one swath.
Even better, each rotor can be lifted individually if needed and transport height is safely under 4m.
Australian farmers here have also shown great enthusiasm for Kverneland’s steel on steel mower conditioners. Ranging from 3.2m to the recently released 4.7m model — off the back of a successful launch in the United States — they feature SuperFloat dual action suspension, centre pivot drawbar and either semi-swing or roller conditioning.
“The point about Kverneland that is resonating is the development of their product portfolio,” PFG’s grass division national sales manager Brendan Lee said.
“These are machines that are really beneficial for both the everyday farmer and the full-time contractor.
“We do a lot of demo programs in the field and there is so much positive feedback about the quality and spec, which is terrific to hear, as PFG has put in significant time and resources to developing spec for Australian conditions.
“It means we stay well and truly ahead of the competition.”
