The camp will take place in Corop and will help children aged 5 to 18 work through their grief and memories while developing coping strategies.
Through fun and engaging activities such as archery and circus skills, participants will have the opportunity to form meaningful connections and friendships during difficult times.
The organisation aims to support these children in finding ways to live with loss and grief while encouraging them to move forward and take the next steps on their bereavement journey.
Wombat’s Wish was founded in Geelong in 2005 by psychologist Jill Crookes and has since delivered grief camps, support services and dedicated programs across Victoria for children and their families.
It is currently one of the state’s only specialised support services for bereaved children, and is funded entirely by donations.
A friendly and highly qualified team of psychologists, social workers, youth workers and trained volunteers runs each camp.
These camps operate at no cost to families, ensuring that all children can access the support they need, regardless of their financial situation.
