The afternoon of entertainment and great fun raises money for a fantastic cause.
Once again, rocker Reece Mastin will take to the stage to deliver another show-stopping performance all in the name of a brave little girl.
Tilly Wilkes was born with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a rare skin condition found in only 1300 people in Australia.
EB is a group of life-threatening skin conditions affecting individuals from birth.
A person born with the condition lacks a critical protein that binds the layers of skin together. Without this protein friction blisters are formed, the skin tears apart and sheers off leading to severe pain, disfigurement, and constant gaping open wounds.
EB affects the body inside and out and blisters can occur all over the body, as well as in the eyes, mouth, oesophagus and affects internal organs.
Living with EB is likened to living with third degree burns and patients are at constant risk of aggressive forms of skin cancer.
However, instead of battling through the condition on her own, Tilly has inspired many people to fight for change.
Established in October 2016 the EB Research Foundation aims to find the cure for this horrific condition.
Rory Brockwell, a relative of Tilly’s and an activist for the EB Research Foundation, is excited for this year’s Tough Tilly Day.
‘‘In 2013 we started fundraising with a pub crawl,’’ he said.
‘‘In the first year we had 200 people show support and now it’s grown to 600-700 people attending last year’s event.
‘‘To date, we have raised more than $120,000 and we hope to raise another $25,000-$40,000 this year.’’
From noon this Saturday, The American Hotel will come alive with raffles, auctions and music.
Opening the event will be Rabb playing a set before Reece Mastin takes to the stage later in the day.
With plenty of entertainment, food, drinks, good times and more, you don’t want to miss this event.
Tickets are $20 for children and $60 for adults with all funds raised going to the EB Research Foundation. A donation can also be made on the website, simply head to facebook.com/events/925203687867251/ for more more information and to purchase your tickets.
