The Rural Women’s Award celebrates leadership of women involved in Australia’s rural and emerging industries, businesses and communities.
Each state and territory winner receives a $15,000 grant as well as access to professional development opportunities and national alumni networks.
The Acceleration Grant runs separately to the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award, however, it complements the process, aiming to provide a leadership and development opportunity to women who are not quite ready to apply for the award.
Seven Australian women a year will be granted with a learning and development bursary of $7000 to enable them to bring their idea, cause or vision to life.

Green energy options explored
Identifying challenges and opportunities for Australia to capitalise on its abundant natural resources to drive economic growth, create new industries and jobs and become a renewable energy superpower will be the focus of a federal parliamentary committee.
The Joint Standing Committee on Trade and Investment Growth has launched the inquiry into Australia’s transition to a green energy superpower.
The committee wants to hear from Australian governments, businesses and other interested parties from across the community about where trade and investment activities are already having a positive impact, emerging and possible future trends, areas of growth, and how these can be accelerated.
The committee is seeking submissions from interested individuals, businesses and organisations on the inquiry’s terms of reference by Wednesday, November 30.
Further information is available on the inquiry webpage.

Wheat and canola trials field day
The Evan Moll Gerogery Field Day will be held on Thursday, November 3 at the Moll family property Elderslie, from 10am to 12.30pm.
Riverine Plains chief executive officer Catherine Marriott said the event had been hosted by the Moll family for more than over 80 years and was a fantastic opportunity for farmers to view the Grains Research and Development Corporation National Variety Trials wheat and canola trials.
The NVT tours provide an opportunity for farmers to see how current varieties are performing under current local conditions, as well as varieties showing future potential for the region.
NSW DPI’s Peter Matthews will lead the wheat NVT discussion and the canola NVT tour will be led by representatives from Pioneer Seeds, AGT and Pacific Seeds.
David Gould (Seed Force) will also discuss nitrogen fixation in sub-clover.
Elderslie is located at 167 Fielder-Moll Rd, Gerogery.
To register, or for more information, visit: www.riverineplains.org.au or phone Riverine Plains on 5744 1713.
Trust for Nature has new CEO
Corinne Proske has been appointed as the new Trust for Nature chief executive officer.
Trust chair Gayle Austen said the board was impressed by Ms Proske’s experience and knowledge across the NGO, government and commercial sectors.
"She demonstrates a deep and long-standing commitment to nature and an understanding of the challenges which face Trust for Nature and the environmental sector as a whole,” Ms Austen said.
Ms Proske said she was looking forward to the role.
“I really believe nature is a part of our wellbeing and it’s critical we do all we can to prevent further species loss,” Ms Proske said.
She will start with the trust on November 7, replacing Vic Marles who has been TFN’s CEO for the past 13 years.
Music gets the message across
Renowned Australian and international performers will campaign for road safety as part of a new partnership between the Transport Accident Commission and Victoria’s statewide celebration of live music, ALWAYS LIVE.
High-profile artists, including Echuca’s Isaiah Firebrace, will use their ALWAYS LIVE performances to kick-start a road safety movement, asking audiences to think about their loved ones and make safe choices on the roads — using the campaign tagline, Keep the Band Together.
“It’s the fans we get to perform in front of who make what we do so special, so it’s concerning that we’re seeing so many lives lost on our roads — we need to find a new way to get the messages out there,” Mr Firebrace said.
“(The campaign is) our way of getting fans to realise the role they play in keeping their own band, their band of friends, safe this summer.”
ALWAYS LIVE is a Victorian Government-backed initiative funded by Visit Victoria, and has a packed program in November and December with more than 160 events, featuring more than 340 artists.
