Ahead of tomorrow’s Year 12 graduation ceremony, the school inducted its new captains and vice captains on Friday.
The results of the elections were received with frantic applause from students and teachers, and tears of joy from some proud parents there to witness the event.
The incoming captains are Henry Michael and Ellie Caruso.
They will be ably supported by vice captains James Selleck and Annie Harvey.
The students were elected by popular vote, after delivering campaign speeched and seeking teacher endorsements.
In her speech, Ellie highlighted her involvement in the school to date, which seemed to appeal to the voters.
She hopes her time as captain will “allow me to become more confident”.
“I look forward to representing the school and supporting the students and school community where needed,” she said.
Henry took a slightly different tact with his speech, injecting humour with a few jokes.
But he said he takes the job very seriously.
“I saw it (standing as captain) as a good opportunity to further my leadership skills, and I look forward to furthering my relationship with staff and students,” he said.
Annie has been extremely busy with sporting representation but still found the time to deliver a speech that captured the voters attention.
Looking forward to the year ahead she said, “I love the school. I want to give back as the school has been so amazing to me”.
“I’m looking forward to developing new skills and really showing support for the junior sector of the school,” she continued.
James’ decision to run was made last minute.
And according to his mum Julie, it was his “epic and hilarious” speech which got him over the line with voters.
Leadership and life skills are high on his list of ways to develop over the course of the year.
