These vital improvements were realised through the generous support of local organisations, including the Central Murray Sunrise Rotary Club, Mulwala Water Ski Club, Club Mulwala, and Helping Hands, showcasing our community's unwavering dedication to local healthcare.
The new chairs, each worth $12,000, underwent rigorous testing to guarantee they perfectly suited both patients' comfort and nurses' practical requirements.
As a result, dialysis patients—many of whom receive treatment three times per week for extended periods—now benefit from a more modern and comfortable experience.
For Yarrawonga Health’s longest-serving dialysis patient, this has meant more than a decade of care in a familiar and supportive environment.
Yarrawonga Health’s Director of Clinical Services, Chris Gartside, highlighted the importance of this upgrade.
“Dialysis is a life-sustaining treatment and being able to provide it in a comfortable and supportive environment makes a world of difference to our consumers,” Mr Gartside said.
“These new chairs not only improve patient comfort but also enhance the ease of operation for our dedicated dialysis nurses.”
CEO Robin Haberecht revealed plans for discussions with Royal Melbourne Hospital, aiming to expand Yarrawonga Health's dialysis capacity.
This initiative could allow more local residents to access this vital treatment without travelling far from home.
Central Murray Sunrise Rotary Club President Dominic Fotia reinforced the club’s commitment to supporting local healthcare.
“We recognise how critically important this equipment is for our community, and we’re proud to contribute to such a great cause,” Mr Fotia said.
“This donation also honors the memory of past Rotarian and former Yarrawonga Health board member, Doug Evans OAM.
Club Mulwala Board President Des O’Meara, expressed the club’s strong support for Yarrawonga Health.
“We are very happy to contribute and support the vital work YH does for our community.”
Mulwala Water Ski Club CEO Greg Roberts echoed this sentiment.
“The club is proud to be involved in supporting local healthcare and assisting in improving the facilities available to our residents,” Mr Roberts said.
