While older students attended the Mathoura RSL Sub-branch service with the rest of the community, the Kindergarten and Year 1/2 students took part in their own service at school.
It included the recital on a short poem titled I'm Planting a Poppy Today.
After the service, students then individually planted their hand-crafted poppy as a symbol of remembrance before observing a minute of silence.
At the town service, Mathoura Public School students performed an emotive version of I Am Australian in honour of service people.
Two Year five students, Ava Wardlaw and Braxton Lilford, were also given the honour of laying a wreath on behalf of the school community.
