Students braved the chill and the rain to compete in the Mathoura Public School annual athletics carnival last week.

Parents, grandparents, family and friends lined the sidelines of the field to cheer on the athletes as they ran, jumped and threw their way through the day.
Students also participated in track events, including 800m, 200m, 100m as well as the field events.
The sub-junior students participated in a fun-filled day including track events, discus, and a range of novelty events.
Gulpa was the winning house on 198 points, closely followed by Moira on 157 points.
Mathoura PS wishes to congratulate the following students who achieved age group champions awards: Senior girl champion Skye Krispyn, runner-up Kate Krispyn; Senior boy champion Ethan Hadley; 11 years girl champion Matilda Eddy, runner-up Georgie Taylor; 11 years boy champion Chanze Egan, runner-up Jobe Unwin; Junior girl champion Leah Ellis, runner-up Sophie Eddy; Junior boy champion Jonathon Moorse, runner-up Michael Krispyn; Sub junior girl champion Bonnie Ellis, runner-up Zaria Wilson-Baker; Sub junior boy champion Jimmy Hullah, runner-ups Charlie Hullah and Harry Schulz.
The school offers special congratulations to the Sportsmanship Award winners to Mia Vesty and Ava Wardlaw.
“Both girls are commended for their positive attitude through their events, and encouragement of their peers,” the school said.
Seventeen students have qualified to attend the Deniliquin District PSSA Athletics Carnival on August 5.
