The event was an opportunity to show the community what the Lions club is about.
Member and co-ordinator Regina Young said the day was a great success.
“We chatted to quite a few people about Lions, the benefits of joining the Lions and why we were Lions members,” she said.
Ms Young said the club received donations from those who attended the event.
“They (the donations) go to the Lions Club fund and then they are dispersed back into the community,” she said.
Lions Australia said its role as a service club was growing in importance even after more than 75 years.
Services include providing emergency relief during natural disasters, supporting farming communities during drought, supporting critical medical research into childhood cancers and diabetes and working on local environmental programs.
“Most often, people send requests in writing where they need money,” Ms Young said.
“That money is always the first back into Seymour.
“That’s what we do with 100 per cent of the money we raise.”
Lions Australia is the largest service organisation in the nation, with more than 25,000 members, but there is much more to the group than simply fundraising barbecues.

This year, the Lions partnered with Bunnings to hold the awareness day.
Ms Young said donations and proceeds from sales of the club’s products were pumped back into the community.
Ms Young thanked everyone who took part in the Lions Awareness Day in Seymour.
“We’re very grateful for the donations we received and very grateful for the people that came and bought a sausage from us,” she said.
“Thanks very much to everybody that came along and supported the Lions Club of Seymour Goulburn on the Lions Awareness Day.
“Thank you very much to the staff at Bunnings for their tremendous support to enable us to hold the day.”
