The event is in its 11th year and continues to raise funds for the Opening Doors Project.
Run Echuca Moama will be on Sunday, August 4 from the Kerrabee Sound Shell in Moama, crossing over the Murray on both the new and old bridges.
It will once again offer 21.1km, 10km and 5km options to run, walk or wheel. There will also be a junior event.
The event has been put on annually for over 10 years by Community Living & Respite Services.
CLRS chief executive officer Leah Taaffe said while the name has changed, the event will remain the same.
“We are trying to attract people to come to Echuca-Moama to participate in the event,” Ms Taaffe said.
“It’s about trying to make it really clear that it’s a publicly accessible event.”
The reason for the name change is to alleviate some of the confusion in the past and ensure the event is open to all.
“We received a lot of feedback from people that they didn’t understand it was a publicly accessible event,” she said.
“They thought it was someone’s run previously.
“So opening up the name ... makes it really clear it’s open to everyone to come and participate.
The event will continue to support the Opening Doors Project, a CLRS initiative to raise funds to build disability housing.
“The Opening Doors project is a project that we deliver that builds homes for people with disability in our local community,” Ms Taaffe said.
“It's been running for 10 years now and we have in that time period delivered five projects.
“Those projects are providing homes for 22 people with disabilities in our community across four shared homes in 10 units.”
The organisation is hoping that the name change will make more people aware of the event, and bring more participants to this year’s event.
“Last year we had 330 people participate with all abilities,” Ms Taaffe said.
“We’d love to have 500 people do it with us this year.”
Run Echuca Moama will be on Sunday, August 4 from Kerrabee Sound Shell.
Early bird registration will open soon.
