The Edward River Council’s International Women’s Day event at Deniliquin Town Hall was a great success, with 180 women attending to enjoy a two-course meal and refreshments while celebrating the achievements of women in the region.

The highlight of the evening was the guest speaker, Kaitie Nash, the creator of the Instagram account First Time Farmer.
Kaitie shared her journey of moving from city life to a farm during a severe drought, facing the tough realities of farm life.
She spoke about how the transition affected her mental health, and how she turned to social media to connect with other first-time farmers.
Through her account, Kaitie created an online community, offering support, advice, and a space to share the challenges and triumphs of starting life on the land.
Her story resonated with many women in the room, especially those who could relate to the difficulties of adapting to rural life.
Her message of resilience and support was a highlight of the evening.
The event also offered a chance for women to connect, share their experiences, and enjoy a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
As they left, each guest was given a native tree seedling as a gift.
