Young drivers are invited to attend an information session with senior police officers, providing learner drivers a better understanding of road rules in Victoria and NSW.

Campapse Police Inspector David Bowler spoke about the challenges facing young drivers and wants to ensure they know their obligations when using the roads.
“With the tragic loss of 215 lives on our roads this year, trying to reduce road trauma is everyone’s business,” Insp Bowler said.
“Driver distraction and inattention are common causal factors in our local collisions; informing the young drivers about what is required and expected when moving from one state to another will hopefully put them in a better position to make informed decisions about their driving.”
Campaspe Police will present the information session with fellow NSW police officers on the unique differences when living in a border community.
“This forum is designed for our young learners and probationary drivers around the licensing restrictions such as speed and passenger restrictions,” Insp Bowler said.
“This may reduce the likelihood of them contributing to our road trauma.”
Local businesses that employ young and inexperienced drivers must be aware of the restrictions placed on P-plate drivers.
Calling all learner drivers: Young drivers in the Campaspe Shire are invited to a Q&A with Inspector David Bowler.
“It may also be relevant to local business operators who employ young drivers, who are driving as part of their employment,” Insp Bowler said.
“You may inadvertently be setting them up to breach their conditions by asking them to drive at 100km/h instead of 90. Or you may be asking them to pick up people that may exceed passenger restriction conditions.”
The information session starts at 6.30pm on Tuesday, October 3, at the Echuca Workers and Services Club on Annesley St Echuca.
There is no need to register; free tea and coffee will be provided.
