The campdrafting started on Friday with cold showers, but the riding was hot, the weather was cool and the plumber was making progress by Saturday lunch.

The three-day Koonoomoo campdraft was attended by an estimated 192 riders and saw 850 runs made.
Cobram Campdrafting Club president Rob Grullis said the event received very positive reviews.
“That came down to two reasons — we held a good draft and we’re only newly out of COVID so people were happy to be out and about,” Mr Grullis said.
“The Cobram Campdraft Club run our draft two times a year from Koonoomoo.”
Like most campdrafts, it proved too popular and riders had to be turned away.
“We had 850 spots and its not unreasonable to have 1200 people apply to enter — so there is always a surplus (of interest),” Mr Grullis said.
“From myself and what people were saying, the ladies final stood out as one of the best events held in the areas for a long, long time.”
The super-star quality of the ladies final came down to having excellent ground, good cattle and high class rides.
Southern Campdrafting Association president Gina Lincoln said the Koonoomoo event was a great opportunity for riders.
“We have 55 drafts in a year, its like a circuit similar to the rodeos,” Ms Lincoln said.
“It’s a smashing day. Better to be here than at work. The cattle are looking good, the ground is perfect and it’s lovely weather.”
Ms Lincoln is based in Gobur, near Alexandra, and said the local team had spent a lot of money getting the Koonoomoo location ready.
The Southern Campdrafting Association encompasses the Riverina, Victoria and South Australia.
