Greens Lake at Corop reopened on Monday, January 1 after a three-day shutdown.
Goulburn-Murray Water water delivery services general manager Warren Blyth said closing the lake leading into the new year period was a matter of public safety.
“The expert advice from emergency services continues to be that we shut Greens Lake during the new year’s holiday period,” Mr Blyth said.
The reason for the temporary closure of the lake is to reduce the chances of a tragic accident.
“The lake is in quite a rural location, so if an incident occurs, emergency respondents are not always nearby to help,” Mr Blyth said.
“Closing the lake is, therefore, the best way to avoid any tragedies occurring during this time.”
The closure took effect from December 29.
