Gannawarra Shire Council will begin an extensive road resealing program from Monday, April 14.
Part of the council’s annual capital works program, the works will focus specifically on rural roads near Cohuna, Leitchville and Koondrook, among other towns.
Chief executive Geoff Rollinson said the council is responsible for maintaining about 500km of sealed roads.
“Resealing our roads regularly prevents moisture from entering the foundation level, which is a common cause of potholes,” he said.
“These works also extend the lifetime of our sealed roads, thus reducing maintenance costs.”
Disruptions are expected to be minimal, but residents can expect short delays of up to 15 minutes when sections of road are reduced to one lane or closed.
