G-MW manager executive business support Caryn Crawford is from Kyabram, which does not have its own donation centre.
She emphasised that donating blood during work hours as a team not only fostered camaraderie but also profoundly impacted the lives of those in need.
“It’s great that more and more people at G-MW are taking the time to donate, and hopefully, we can encourage even more to do so in 2025,” Ms Crawford said.
G-MW supports employee donations by providing specific leave for giving blood.
G-MW information governance manager Sheree Fitzgerald, who has donated blood over 60 times in the past 15 years, appreciated the flexibility for staff wanting to donate.
“There’s a really good culture around it at G-MW,” she said.
“People are supportive, and my managers have always been happy for me to be offline for a short while to give blood.”
Ms Fitzgerald said it was a simple way she could give back to others.
“Blood donations are so important, and make such a critical difference in people’s lives, so I’m glad to be able to do my bit.”
Lifeblood spokesperson Emily Granland said the demand for blood and plasma donations continued to grow, and any donation was appreciated.
“One in three people will need blood or blood products in their lifetime,” she said.
“You never know when it might be a family member, a friend or someone from your community who needs it.”
