Facilitated by Ritchies IGA, the event will feature donuts from award-winning local baker Hungie Fangs and a barbecue by Cobram’s SES and CFA units.
“It’s a way for Ritchies to give back to the community that supports us all year,” Ritchies IGA store manager and organiser of the event Mandy Hawke said.
To raise much-needed funds for the Cobram SES and CFA units, Ritchies will be selling raffle tickets in the lead-up to and on the day of the event.
“It’s a great community day. All the staff volunteer their time, they come help out,” Ms Hawke said.
The Cobram SES and CFA units will split all funds raised from raffle ticket and barbecue sales.
Winners of the raffle will receive grocery and liquor hampers provided by the event’s generous sponsors.
Last year’s event raised more than $7100, Ms Hawke said.
SES Cobram unit controller Luke Herezo said the money went towards upgrading the new facility on Cobram-Koonoomoo Rd.
Mr Herezo said the unit is looking to acquire a new light rescue support vehicle to assist in responding to a recent spike in priority one incidences.
Priority one incidences are reports of anything from road rescue to assisting ambulance and police — anything, Mr Herezo said, that represents a threat to life.
“The light rescue support vehicle will enable us to respond to those with the best chances.”
Raffle tickets will be $2 each or $5 for three tickets.
For music lovers, students from Cobram Secondary College School Band will enchant patrons on the day before handing the stage over to Paul Vitullo and Nicki Goldsworthy.
For the first time in the event’s history, Dutch Thunder Wildlife Shelter will hold a display while Connies Crafts will also be at the event with a stall.
The event will be on Saturday, November 2, between 9.30am to 1pm at the Ritchies IGA car park on 47 Banks St, Cobram.
