Hosted by the Deniliquin Motorcycle Riders group, it will be a fun day with the aim of raising funding and awareness for Deniliquin Can Assist.
Participants will visit a number of venues across the Edward River Council footprint.
They can bring their own motorbike or car, or can jump on the shuttle bus for an additional fee.
At each of the five venues, you’re allocated a card out of a traditional deck. At the final stop, the person with the highest poker hand value will win.
But there are plenty of other chances to win, with a number of raffles throughout the day.
Registrations will be taken at the Edward River Hotel in Deniliquin (the Buncha) from 8am, with participants departing about 10am. The Poker Run will visit the Pretty Pine Hotel, the Conargo Hall where lunch will be served, and the Blighty Hotel before returning to the Buncha for final presentations.
The fee to participate in the Poker Run is $25 per person, with an additional charge of $10 for anyone wishing to take the bus. Bus seats must be pre-booked.
To book, or for more information, call Jenni on 0408 546 293.
Healthy Harold is back
Healthy Harold is back in town.
The lovable giraffe, is a caring and loyal friend and passionate advocate for the health and safety of all Aussie children and their families.
For 45 years, he and the team have been touring Australia, visiting schools and empowering children and young people to make safer and healthier choices through education.
Students from some of the district’s small schools - Conargo, Mayrung and Blighty - got to experience the Life Education Van together on Wednesday.
The visit formed part of a bigger day about safety and education at Conargo School.
Healthy Harold and his friends are also visiting other local schools over coming days before heading off to the next region.
Deni High survey
Deniliquin High School’s P&C has launched a survey as part of a campaign to address declining student numbers.
With a growing number of local students travelling out of Deniliquin for secondary education, the P&C is calling on the community to provide input on what they love about Deni High and what they feel can be improved upon.
The ‘Worth staying home for’ survey can be accessed at https://forms.office.com/r/rz0q2vac8a.
