Featuring artists who had performed at the Port Fairy Folk Festival just two weekends prior, the Festival of Small Halls event had a successful second run in Avenel.
With support from the state and federal governments, as well as the Strathbogie Shire, the night went off with a bang, with a full house of attendees reported.
Among the performers was UK folk singer Lucy Farrell, who not only entertained on the night, but was also involved in a workshop at the Avenel Primary School during the day.
To the delight of parents, Ms Farrell invited five students to accompany her on stage to sing with her during her opening number.
Australian husband and wife duo Hat Fitz, who was on the guitar, and Cara, on the drums, also played a range of original songs.
Longwood artist Neale Williams was in attendance as well, opening up the evening with some of his own ballads.
The event included a supper midway through the evening, and the Memorial Hall committee wish to extend their gratitude to those who donated the supper, as well as the raffle prizes from Avenel’s premier eateries.
