It was the best performance by 30-year-old Jemima Draper in the Garryowen Equestrienne Turnout event. .
It’s named in honour of champion horsewoman Violet Murrell who was the top female jockey, hunting rider, show jumper and horse exhibitor of her day — having won more trophies than any other woman in the world in the 1920s.
Ms Murrell died tragically in a brave attempt to save her horses — including Garryowen — from a fire.
This year’s Garryowen was won by Ebonie Lee, riding Wynara Signature, a six-year-old gelding sired by Wynara Copyright and out of Wynara Simply Irresistible.
Ms Draper, a Kyabram podiatrist, and her partner have a rural property at Tamleugh North.
She was riding a young 16-hand mare, Bellaire Cartier, leased by Clint Bilson from Moorooduc.
She rode the same horse to take out the Best Novice Senior Rider, 25 years and over; the Best Novice Senior Rider; and the Open Rider in the 30 years and over section.
Ms Draper has placed fourth three times in the past in the Garryowen.
