The Benalla Clydesdale and Heavy Horse Driving Day will take place this weekend, with tough competition expected.

Held at Benalla Equestrian Park on Saturday, May 4, the event will have something for all skill levels.
Experienced heavy horse farriers Peter Donnelly and Julian Corboy will hold a talk over lunch and make a horseshoe, as well as answer questions about care and shoeing for show or work horses.
The event will feature a new ridden ring, which will operate for the morning as a handy-mount ring before finishing before lunch with a ridden class for seniors only.
Experienced equestrian instructor Nea Hicks will judge the ridden ring events and offer lessons in the afternoon.
Barbara Ford will judge all senior ring events, Cathy Chandler will judge the junior ring event and Max Marriott will judge the novice ring.
Tutor Fred Broso will be on hand at the beginners and tuition ring for those looking to have a go.
All those who are driving horses must either be a member of the Commonwealth Clydesdale Horse Society of Australia or pay $20 for adults or $11 for juniors for insurance.
Registrations will be taken from 8am and all rings start at 9am.
