Rebuilt and improved only 12 months ago and popular with skaters of all ages, users have reported graffiti - some of it quite vulgar - and glass, rocks and other debris being left on the skating surfaces.
Local teacher and lifelong skater Luke Moodie said the vandalism, which he has reported to Edward River Council, is upsetting.
“The skate park has recently been a target of some Posca tagging, and I have contacted the council through their online portal about it,” he said.
“It started a couple of weeks back with a little bit, which I cleaned off myself over a few mornings, but it has escalated this past week with daily additions.
“More was added on Monday and I spent 10 to 15 minutes cleaning up glass from a smashed bottle before I could skate; it’s frustrating.”
In addition to vandalism, Mr Moodie said he has concerns the watering program at the skate park and its surrounds is also a hazard and could cause long-term damage.
“Unfortunately, I didn't have much luck with my last submission regarding the sprinklers going over the park, making it unusable for periods of the day. There’s also the rust factor, and wastage of water,” Mr Moodie said.
“It's not just a little bit that gets covered either, crazy amounts of water is wasted.
“Park users are the ones looking after it, maintaining it with sweeping, blower vacs, picking up glass, rubbish and waxing the metal.”
