There have recently been some outstanding performances from Tocumwal’s young sports stars.
At the end of 2022, Abigayle Owen was selected into the Girls Riverina Cricket Team to play in Bathurst from February 28 to March 2 this year.
Last week she was named as Co-Vice Captain of the team.
Harrison Wilson attended the Riverina pre-selection tennis trials held in Deniliquin on Feburary 10.
He played against other children from Deniliquin, Hay, Moulamein, Balranald and Barooga in a round robin of six sets of tennis.
Harrison was selected to go through to the Riverina team, which will play in Griffith on February 22.
Such a fantastic achievement and for the young sportsperson who achieves at a high level in many sporting codes.
Abigail Walsh and Amalie Pate have both been accepted into the 2023 Bendigo Academy of Sport - Netball North East Program.
This program nurtures talented athletes by giving them the support required to enable them to achieve at the highest level in both sport and life, particularly in potential talent academy athletes who are transitioning into the under-15 age group.
The girls will commence training sessions on February 26 in Shepparton.
Congratulations to all of these young athletes.

Ian and Liz Lang have sold the Tocumwal Post Office to another great local couple.
Paul and Sharon Stevens have been Tocumwal residents for five years and have lived in the area for 15 years.
They have just announced that they are excited to be the new licensees of the Tocumwal Post Office.
Over the coming months Paul and Sharon will commence their transition period into post office life, working closely with Ian and Liz, and welcome all members of the community to stop in and say hello.
The Langs have been an integral part of the Tocumwal community and the owners of the post office for more than 20 years.
As well as running the postal hub of Tocumwal, they have been incredibly involved in our community with their many hours of volunteer work, the many events they have coordinated and been involved in, not to mention the countless sausages they have cooked at community barbecues.
When I first moved to Tocumwal, Ian and Liz were the most welcoming and friendly faces around and have since become treasured friends.
We wish them all the best in their next chapter as they embark on new adventures, travelling and spend some well-deserved time with family and friends.
Their last day will be Friday, March 31.
Congratulations, and welcome, to Paul and Sharon.
