If you’re looking for ways to support local veterans in Benalla, there will be opportunities to do just that, throughout April.
The Benalla RSL sub-branch is preparing for its annual Anzac Appeal, running from April 12 to April 26.
Benalla RSL Appeals Officer Ian Robertson said while the club prepares for services on Anzac Day, April 25, it is also aiming to raise as much as it can in the lead up.
“The appeal will have selling sites at various locations throughout Benalla,” Ian said.
These will be around the Benalla CBD weekdays from 10am to 2pm and on Saturday mornings.
“Any donations or purchases of badges or other merchandise would be greatly appreciated,” Ian said.
“Stop and have a chat with the volunteers and get the kids a free Anzac sticker.
“We realise that people are feeling the economic strain and that there are other fundraising activities as well.
“But I can assure the public that all funds raised are for the benefit and the welfare of sick and distressed veterans and their families.
“And any donations and purchases will be thankfully received.”
Ian said that the stalls in the CBD won’t operate on Good Friday or Easter Monday, but there will be a stall at Benalla’s Anzac Day ceremonies at the cenotaph.
