Shire administrator John Tanner AM joined chief executive officer Joshua Lewis to promote the initiative which is to be held on the weekend of July 22 and 23.
The promotional event will see more than 60 sites across the shire offering offering products and experiences for just $1.
Various sites will have events and offer catering to different age groups ensuring that anyone visiting can find something that they would enjoy.
Mr Lewis said that the initiative is a chance for people to have a great weekend without breaking the budget.
“It's an exciting time where people can enjoy some of the best that Moira has to offer on a budget,” he said.
“I’d actually encourage people to go to our website and check out what's there and make the most of it. There's so many fantastic opportunities.”
Mr Tanner thanked businesses who are planning to take part.
“Local businesses play a crucial role in the overall well-being and growth of communities,” he said.
“We have many businesses here being recognised nationally and internationally for their customer service, product development and innovation for which we all should be proud.
“They contribute significantly to the local economy, create employment opportunities and help build a sense of community pride.”
Mr Tanner said the unique products and services of the participants in the $1 Discovery Weekend is a reflection of the local culture and identity of the Moira Shire community.
Present at the event was also Cactus Country’s owner Julie Hall who’s business featured on Masterchef Australia on Wednesday, July 5.
Ms Hall said she was ecstatic about how everything came together.
“It was so exciting to have them there and it was just such a full on production with over 80 people involved in the whole thing who pretty much took over the whole place for three days,” she said.
Filming of the event happened some months ago and Ms Hall said that everything had to be kept quiet until the episode was about to air.
“We had to be very careful about keeping it all secret,” she said.
“They (the show’s producers) didn't want the paparazzi coming in and finding out who were the contestants that were down to the last five.”
Ms Hall believes the event will benefit the region and said she already had new customers visit her business due to Masterchef Australia.
“it's gonna be huge... it puts us on the map. There's interesting things just three hours from Melbourne,” Ms Hall said.
