Jack was picked up by the Melbourne Demons during the off season while training with West Coast in mid-February.
Since then, Henderson has, quite obviously, not placed a foot wrong in the lead up to round one.
Going from being added to Melbourne’s list in February to playing round one with the club at the weekend is a massive feat.
Over the course of the game, the local product was able to kick a goal for the Demons. He also collected 13 possessions and made three tackles.
Henderson spent as much time on ground as Tom Green and Finn Callaghan from GWS and Jack Viney from the Demons - all three considered top players for their side and the competition.
We’ll have more on Jack’s debut in a future edition.
Campsites going quickly
The Deni Ute Muster opened sales for its reserved campsites for the 2025 instalment of the event on Friday, and they are expected to be snapped up quickly.
Bookings were delayed by two weeks, due to the impact of Clyclone Alfred on Queensland - where the Muster’s chosen booking agent is based.
Allocations for five of the nine camping areas have already been exhausted since bookings opened, indicating the popularity of the event.
Those wishing to get a spot in one of the four final areas need to hop onto the Muster website as soon as possible to ensure your reserved camping spot.
The Ute Muster will take place on Friday, October 3, and Saturday, October 4.
For more information on reserved camping, go to www.deniutemuster.com.au/reserved-camping.
Click back to the home page of the website for more details on the event and tickets, which include free camping in the non-reserved camping areas.
Ropeable Rams want answers
The Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club have taken to Facebook to encourage witnesses to incidents at their Hardinge St clubrooms to speak with police.
Over two separate nights, the club was targeted (see report on page 5).
Videos and photos of both incidents have been shared to the club’s Facebook page and on local noticeboards.
And it seems it’s not the first time.
There have been reports of the club’s fundraising metal scrap pile being picked at over the past few weeks.
And it’s just the latest in a series of incidents in an apparent spree which started just before Christmas.
It’s no wonder the people who put so much effort in at Ramland are upset - and we don’t blame them.
Anyone with information about these events, or any other local crimes, should contact Deniliquin Police on 5881 9299 or CrimeStoppers on 1300 333 000.
Practice matches in full swing
While the incident at Ramland did create a bit of a stir over the weekend, the Haridnge St oval was also the centre of some happier times too.
The Deni Rams and Deni Rovers senior football sides all braved the heat with practice matches at Hardinge St.
The Rams matched up with the Leitchville Gumbower Bombers on Friday night.
The Bombers, who play in the Heathcote and District Football Netball League, put in a strong showing on the Friday night, despite the heat topping 36°C.
The Rovers then used the facilities on Saturday for their hit-out saw with the travelling Griffith side.
The match between the Rovers and Griffith was played in even hotter conditions than the Friday.
The Rovers would have hosted the match at their home at Deniliquin Memorial Park, but it had still not recovered enough after the Deni Show’s horse events to be suitable for play.
We’ll have more on the practice matches in Friday’s edition.
