A power pole was hit by a vehicle in Shepparton, breaking it and causing it to fall across the road, in the early hours of Friday, January 13.

Police said the Kia Carnival wagon was travelling north on Wyndham St when veered onto the nature strip and hit the power pole, near the Balaclava Rd intersection, about 4.10am.

The pole snapped and fell across the road, blocking north-bound lanes along Wyndham St from Regent St to Balaclava Rd fully for about two hours.
Power was also out at 13 homes in the area, with Powercor expecting it to be restored about 1pm.

The traffic lights at the Wyndham St and Balaclava Rd intersection were also inactive in the outage, but were back working by 9.45am.
Powercor workers were erecting a new pole at 9.45am, with traffic slowed in the north-bound lane for them to do so.
Neither the driver or his passenger were injured in the collision.
A 21-year-old Merrigum man will be issued a penalty notice for careless driving.
