That jacket that's now a bit tight, or the dress that isn't quite the right colour for your new look?
Join like-minded people at the upcoming Benalla Clothing Swap event on Wednesday, June 28 at 5pm and allow these garments to find a new, appreciative home while helping to reduce the waste associated with the clothing industry.
Benalla Mayor Bernie Hearn said the Benalla Clothing Swap was an example of the council working with the community to shape a better, more sustainable future.
“This will be a unique gathering where people can come together to exchange high-quality clothing and accessories and it's the perfect opportunity to refresh your wardrobe in a sustainable way, guilt-free,” Cr Hearn said.
"The clothing swap promotes the values of sustainability and community and is a fantastic initiative that allows residents to make a positive impact on the environment while enjoying a fun and fashionable experience."
The Benalla Town Hall, located at 82-86 Nunn St, will be the venue for this exciting event.
Bring up to five items of clothing or accessories, including dresses, pants, skirts, tops, jumpers, coats, jumpsuits, shoes, bags, scarves, hats, sunglasses and jewellery.
Please ensure that the items you bring are clean, good quality, and in good condition, as we aim to provide a delightful selection for all attendees. Hangers will be provided for easy display.
While event organisers can't guarantee specific clothing in your taste or size, the clothing swap encourages people from all genders and body shapes to get involved, ensuring there will be something for everyone.
Additionally, accessories are included in the pool of items, offering a variety of choices to suit different preferences.
The Benalla Clothing Swap is being run by Benalla Rural City Council’s Economic Development and Sustainability teams with help from facilitator, A Fitting Connection, and a team of volunteers.
