Colbinabbin silo art proves popular

Colbinabbin looks to be well and truly on the silo art trail, with a steady flow of visitors turning up to admire the artwork which is just off the main street.

The six silos were completed in May last year by artist Tim Bowtell, funded by a Pick My Project grant from the Victorian Government.

Committee member and project founder Sadie Vale said it was gratifying to see visitors enjoying the silo art and there was an increase in patronage of the town's hotel and the general store which has recently been taken over by a community co-operative.

Ms Vale said the visitors appeared to enjoy the viewing area and the interpretive boards as well as the information directing them to the town's facilities.

On the day the site was visited by Country News, the car park was holding between eight and ten cars for about an hour.

The silo art committee is now working on an enhanced garden area and an official opening.

Although completed last year, COVID-19 restrictions have made it difficult to organise an official celebration of the silo art.

Colbinabbin has been included on a Campaspe Shire pamphlet promoting an art trail.
