The Broken system is now sitting on two per cent high reliability water shares, the first time it has been above zero this season.
Northern Victoria resource manager Mark Bailey said there was enough resource improvement in the Broken system to eliminate the shortfall and make a small positive seasonal determination.
“The Minister for Water (Lisa Neville) qualified rights in the Broken system from January 1, 2020,” Dr Bailey said.
“The qualification allows customers access to water for critical domestic and stock use while the seasonal determination remains below 50 per cent HRWS.
“It is not affected by the two per cent HRWS announced today (March 16).”
In the other systems, the Murray system increased from 59 per cent of HRWS to 65 per cent HRWS, the Goulburn and Loddon systems increased from 73 per cent HRWS to 78 per cent HRWS, while the Campaspe system moved from 72 per cent HRWS to 80 per cent HRWS.
The Bullarook system was the only system to remain on its previous determinations of 100 per cent HRWS and 100 per cent of low-reliability water shares.
“Flows into the major storages in the past fortnight were the highest since spring,” Dr Bailey said.
“The flows receded quickly but were sufficient to enable the increases in the Murray, Goulburn, Broken, Loddon and Campaspe systems announced today (March 16).”
