The boys involved in the program from Sacred Heart PS and Mulwala PS have had several opportunities to give back to the community, learn new skills, and work together as a team.
One of the highlights was helping Matt Long of the Yorta Yorta people clean up and maintain the Winton Wetlands.
This experience taught the boys the importance of looking after the land and understanding its cultural significance to the Yorta Yorta people.
They also had the chance to help at Max Kirwan Ski Park with Matt O'Dwyer in preparation for the national ski championships.
The boys worked together to ensure everything was ready for the event, learning the value of teamwork and hard work.
Another key experience was at Squires Vineyard, where the boys helped with grape picking and learned more about the crushing process.
This hands-on activity gave them an appreciation for the hard work involved in agriculture and local industries.

The boys also spent time in the hospitality industry, learning how to make pizzas at the Waterside Pizza, Pasta, and Grill.
Here, they learned about teamwork and the importance of respect in running a successful business.
None of these activities would have been possible without the generous support of Greg Roberts at the Mulwala Ski Club, whose financial backing made the program a reality, without which these programs wouldn’t go ahead.
Boys to the Bush isn’t just about learning new skills; it’s about understanding the importance of community, respect and engagement.
The boys involved are gaining valuable life lessons that will help them grow into responsible, respectful leaders who understand the power of giving back and with those learned skills take them back into their school and home lives.
