Golfers will start hitting off tomorrow morning in the first of two 18 hole events, on Saturday and Sunday.
Again, the major prizes will be for the combined 36 holes.
Good luck to all players; the weather should be kind after the course received a good drink during the week.
It was again busy on the course last weekend with the men’s monthly medal on Saturday and the MND Big Freeze Charity Day on Sunday.
The medal winner with a net 70 was Nick Metcalfe, by a shot to Norm Purtill.
A-grade winner was Vicki Hutton who had a net 69, which was the best score of the day, from runner-up Peter Joice 72.
Norm Purtill won B-grade on countback from runner-up Jane Armytage, and medal winner Nick Metcalfe took out C-grade from runner-up Grace Tiri 76.
The MND Charity Day was again a huge success, with more than 70 participants but more importantly a fun day which raised more than $6,500.
This brings the total raised by the MND charity days in Deniliquin to $30,000 in just three years.
Congratulations to everyone involved, with special thanks to the fundraising team and all the businesses which support the event.
The men’s winners were H Sutton, L Campbell, D Osbourne and S Drennan with net 52.25, and the mixed winners were Ross and Rivah Taylor, Stephen Townsend and Gary Stephens with 55.5.
Special congratulations to Ross and Rivah, the father and daughter combination who teamed up for their first victory together.
Last Thursday the ladies played their monthly medal and it was won by Vicki Barnes with net 70 from Jane Armytage 73. There was only one grade.
Wednesday’s stableford event was cancelled due to the rain.
Next week we have the usual ladies nine hole event on Tuesday, stableford on Wednesday and Thursday.
Next Friday is the Ritchies IGA Deniliquin Ladies Open, which is a stroke event with 9.30am assembly for 10am shotgun start.
Saturday, June 17 will be round one of the matchplay knockout, and on Sunday, June 18 Deniliquin will host the WRDGA 4BBB championships.
Players are being sought for singles pennant which starts on July 16.
The club wants to fill two handicap teams and one scratch team, which will require 15 players. Put your name on the sheet in the pro shop.
The pennant season will be for five weeks.
Junior golfers are getting some valuable lessons at the Friday afternoon Junior Golf Clinics which started last Friday and continue for another four weeks, under the tuition of PGA professional Jody Fleming. Hopefully we get more juniors coming through the ranks.
Members are encouraged to support Friday night activities, and note the change to the raffle draw which from tonight will take place at 7pm.
Why not come along to the club tonight and try your luck in the raffle and enjoy a meal. Raffle tickets will be on sale from 6pm.
Meals are available tonight and tomorrow night, with reservations preferred.
Our volunteers continue to be the backbone of the club. Volunteers are still required in the pro shop, as well as for the ‘Adopt a Fairway’ program. Please assist if you can.
