The Coleambally Swimming Pool’s initiative to raise money for youth suicide through the Laps for Life fundraising event has seen it raise more than $23,000 to rank fourth overall in Australia.
Matilda Blackett expressed a massive thank you to everyone who has supported the event, which coincided with a pool party for the end of the swimming season.
“Whether you joined the team to swim laps, donated or bought some raffle tickets, you have helped our team to raise $23,000 for youth suicide prevention,” she said.
“Our team has absolutely smashed both their swimming and fundraising goals and have put in a huge effort towards this cause.
“An extra special shout out to the kids who got involved; it was a massive effort to smash out the number of laps they have and to make such a positive impact to other people’s lives.”
Winners for the event were: Under-16s most laps - Breanna Witham; over-16s most laps - Amanda Mannes; most money raised - Joe Briggs.
Raffle: 1st prize Nathan Maddison; 2nd prize Jemma Pound; 3rd prize Marion Demamiel.
