Having served as mayor of the previous Deniliquin Council and administrator during the merger transition, I am fully aware of the challenges faced by local government, especially in our region.
As a local businessman over the past 35 years I also appreciate the challenges being faced in our business community, including some which directly relate to the way ERC operates within the business environment.
If elected, I want to help build a collaborative and respectful council that always places the benefit of community and ratepayers at the forefront. I believe my local government experience will be beneficial to this process.
Council needs to work with the community, listen to different viewpoints and when a majority decision is made, respect and support that decision.
Council also must operate a budget that appreciates and limits the rate burden on all residents. If elected, financial responsibility will be a priority.
I was raised in Deniliquin, educated at our high school and have been fortunate to have a long association in business and sporting circles.
I want to help ensure we continue to enjoy a wonderful lifestyle, while building the foundations for future generations.
This can be achieved with a united council that shows mature and respectful leadership.
I would welcome your vote, and if elected will do everything possible to be part of a council that everyone can look on with pride.
