Glenn Shaw already has an impressive moustache in the works, Sue Calder is tackling Move for Movember by running a total of 60km and Jemma Gipp is hosting a Mo-ment morning tea at the end of the month.
The three of them hope to raise $600 each for a combined total of $1800 for Movember in their first year of joining the cause.
Mr Shaw said they had raised almost $500 so far, already well on the way to their goal.
“It’s been good. We’ve got lots of good feedback from people we’re talking to, but we need to turn that into actual donations rather than just support,” he said.
“I think all of us have been touched by mental illness and that kind of thing, so it’s just a really important cause.
“I’ve thought about doing it a few years now, and I never quite got organised to do it until this year.”
There are many ways to participate in Movember aside from growing a moustache, with the group covering the main areas.
“It’s been good because we’re sort of doing the three major goals,” Mr Shaw said.
“We’re doing one each with the Movember Mo-ment that Jemma’s going to organise for us, and I’ve got the mo, which obviously Jemma and Sue couldn’t do.
“It’s really good that Movember has found different ways that people can engage with it.
“The mo thing was great as a starting point, but it kind of excludes some people from participating.”
The morning tea will be held on Thursday, November 30 at 10am, and all are welcome. Mr Shaw teased that there could even be a special surprise at the gathering — if he gets the donations.
“There’s a special offer going on that anybody that donates $100 — and that can be a group of people fundraising together — but anyone who puts together a $100 donation to the team gets to choose a colour to dye my mo,” he said.
“For $150, you can dye it many colours, and $200 gets the eyebrows as well.”
