Originally from the Phillipines, Mrs Lim took her oath and pledge of allegiance in a Murrumbidgee Council ceremony at Darlington Point on Thursday.
The milestone marks a significant achievement for Mrs Lim in her journey to becoming an integral part of the Australian community.
Mayor Ruth McRae OAM described it as a great honour to officiate Mrs Lim’s citizenship ceremony.
“Australia is built on the diversity and strength of people like Mrs Lim, and we are thrilled to have her as officially part of Murrumbidgee.”
Mrs Lim, who was joined by family and friends for the celebration, expressed her gratitude and said she was deeply honoured and excited to become an Australian citizen.
“This country has offered me so much and I look forward to contributing to the community that has welcomed me with open arms,” she said.
Mrs Lim said she and her husband decided to come to Australia to provide a better future for their family.
“My husband was hired in 2015 as a leading hand in a piggery farm in Rankin Springs, and my son and I came here to Australia in 2018 after our visas were granted.
“We lived in Rankin Springs for nearly seven years, and moved to Darlington Point last year for his career growth in a chook farm.
“I've been an active member of Filipino Australian Community in Griffith and participated in multicultural activities for several years.”
Mrs Lim said she and her family has been warmly welcomed by the Darlington Point community.
“My first impression of Darlington Point is that it is a very clean, small, serene town. The people are nice and welcoming.
“What I love about Australia are the quality of life, the fresh environment, the abundant nature, the people are treated equally by the government, the good health services and less crime.
“Everything that parents dream for their children is here, and that's inspired me to be a citizen of this beautiful country. It's my way to give back, to care, to contribute and to protect this nation for my children and for the future generation.”
