Darksaber (Race 1, No.14): It is this horse’s first start for the Dennis Oliver stable, formally trained by Mathew Ellerton. Has shown some talent in his first five runs. He is currently third emergency. If he gains a start, could run into the placings at nice odds — one to watch.
Qubella (Race 2, No.11): This race is the Vale Daryl Archard maiden. This mare has shown good ability in her first three runs. With a team of owners from the Gunbower Race Club, we need the stars to align to see the Archard stable winning the race in Daryl’s name. All our fingers and toes are crossed for Qubella to get the money in Race 2.
Live Life Loud (Race 3, No.8): The Bluey Thomas-trained mare is knocking on the door for a win. She finds a winnable race here and with a good ride from Rose Hammond, from the wide barrier will be a strong each way chance.
Cost Of Devotion (Race 4, No. 12): The Donna Gaskin-trained mare should strip a lot fitter for her third run this preparation. She needs to gain a start (current first emergency), and needs to improve on her recent form if she does.
Calligrapher (Race 5, No. 17): Being the sixth emergency he will need luck to gain a start. This horse continues to be around the mark but seems to find one or two better. Take on trust.
Common Request (Race 6, No.16): Another emergency that will need scratchings to gain a start — his best form is over 2000m and if he gets a start, won’t be bothering these.
Tutankhamun (Race 7 No. 6): Another from the Rhys Archard stable who will be looking for longer races. Will handle the wet track, but likely to find this first-up race too short.
BEST BETS: With so many of our local runner emergencies, the best of the local is Qubella in Race 2 and Live Life Loud in Race 3 represents a good each-way chance. Good luck to all our local runners on Saturday.
