A preview will be held on Sunday, March 5 between 11am and 3pm.
“The preview has grown in popularity over the past four years,” Alpine principal Jim Delany said.
“We decided last year to no longer take part in Beef Week so that we can avoid transporting the sale bulls from three different properties more than once, thereby reducing the risk of injury and stress on the bulls.
“If that timing doesn't suit, a private preview can be arranged.”
Stud manager Chris Oswin said many quality commercial herds sourced bulls from Alpine.
“Our goal is to produce sound, functional, true-to-type Angus with added performance and an emphasis on moderate birth and high growth,” Mr Oswin said.
“We aim to breed cattle that last, with strong confirmation and the ability to contribute to profitable farming operations.”
The 2022 autumn sale saw two quality Alpine Rennylea N542 sons enter AI catalogues, with the sale topper, Alpine Real Deal R163, bought by a Western Australia and New Zealand syndicate and his semen marketed by ABS Australia.
Real Deal semen has seen considerable use thanks to his combination of structure, body depth, performance and high IMF.
“Our core business though is producing bulls for producers in the High Country, its valleys and the surrounding slopes and plains of Victoria and southern NSW,” Mr Delany said.
“We are thankful for the amazing support we receive from cattle breeders in these local areas.”
Alpine joined close to 1000 females in 2022, with a focus on maintaining the quality and trueness of type in the herd, while increasing growth and carcase performance.
“We target sound, high performance sires produced from strong maternal lines that will have a positive influence on the physical strengths in our herd, while continually improving our EBVs and the overall performance potential of our cattle,” Mr Oswin said.
“We are particularly excited by the genetics coming through our embryo transfer program.
“Dams of the Alpine AI sires we previously mentioned are currently producing embryos.
“In addition we have imported embryos out of a cow we purchased from the highly respected Sitz Angus herd in Montana, USA.
“Sitz Manor 3195 is a female we hope will add to the quality of cattle we produce.
“A highly maternal seven-year-old cow, she is the dam of ABS sire Sitz Response 8659 and has excellent EPDs for the functional and growth traits that we endeavour to replicate throughout our herd.”
The bull sale will be held at the Alpine sales complex at Rosewhite.
For those unable to attend the preview, phone Chris Oswin on 0427 562 254 to organise a private inspection.
