Brenton Sessions said they placed a high value on fertility, production traits, utility, and structure, looking to build with carcase traits on top, with increasing intramuscular fat and yield, leading to increased profitability.
“The breed as a whole is uniform and this makes them so profitable,” Brenton said.
“The breed is calculated on a bell curve graph 68 per cent of cattle fall within one standard deviation of zero.
“So the breed is very predictable which makes it more profitable for everyone along the line.”
The family business runs about 200 females on the Balmattum property across 500 hectares of owned and leased land.
Bellaspur Angus will be running its annual bull sale on-farm on Thursday, March 20, offering 35 registered Angus bulls by sires including HF Safe & Sound 019, Landfall New Ground N90 and Absolute New Ground R61.
