With Seymour finishing up its rollercoaster season at the weekend, it’s time to look back at the year that was.
Despite the team being unable to progress through to the finals series at the weekend, there was still something to smile about for Seymour supporters.
Although the pain of missing out on finals action by an agonising 0.19 per cent will take time to heal, the Lions can at least sleep a bit easier knowing they have a strong list to bounce back next year.
Injuries cruelled the 2022 campaign, but Seymour still had some strong contributors across the 18 rounds.
Jack Murphy was one of the senior outfit’s strongest performers.
The silky hard-running on-baller is tipped to poll well in the Morrison Medal and one glance at his season averages and you can understand why.
Murphy topped the disposals with 534 from 18 matches.
Fellow on-baller Ben Rigoni finished the season atop the tackles, clearances and contested possessions, with Murphy close behind in the latter category.
Dylan Scopel may not have finished atop any of the categories, however the running half-back had 284 kicks (second best) for a kick efficiency of 78 per cent.
Emerging forward Riley Mason averaged 8.6 marks per game, while defender Lachlan Waite topped the intercept marks with 40 and Scopel was second with 29.
